The Trade College is proud to be partnering with C&K College of Early Childhood to offer a Vocational Education and Training program for senior secondary students who are passionate about launching a career in the childcare and early childhood education industry.

Students will have the opportunity to study on-site in the Trade College simulated learning environments and gain first-hand experience in childcare and early childhood education facilities, working alongside qualified educators.

This qualification is offered by external RTO: C&K College of Early Childhood RTO #5025, and delivered at the Australian Trade College North Brisbane (Scarborough).

C&K College of Early Childhood is a respected training provider that delivers qualifications for the early childhood sector. C&K College will provide you with the opportunity to draw on more than 100 years of practical experience in early childhood education, and proven positive outcomes for children.

Childcare and Early Childhood Education facilities are experiencing a skills shortage which means there is a high demand for qualified workers.

Our CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care qualification is the minimum employment requirement for early childhood settings in Australia.

Childcare Course Structure

Program Delivery

The program is open to Year 11 and Year 12 students and covers the following areas:

  • Care and nurturing: babies, toddlers, and children
  • Fostering individual development
  • Promoting and facilitating healthy mealtimes
  • Legal and industry requirements
  • Planning, implementing and evaluating educational programs
  • Working alongside other educators and teachers
  • Work with family and community

 

CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care

  • Year 11 – Two days per week over 2 Semester (four terms). Weekly homework tasks.
  • Year 12 – Two days per week over 1 Semester (two terms). Weekly homework tasks.

Compulsory placements in line with the Trade College’s industry work experience program.

The program will deliver a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care across Semester 1 and Semester 2 of Year 11 and Semester 1 of Year 12 with School-Based Traineeship pathway opportunities.

 

Vocational Placement Program

The Australian Trade College North Brisbane’s flagship Industry Engagement Work Experience / Vocational Placements Program sets us apart from other schools. Students engage with regular extended blocks of work experience to support their selected trade career. Discover more about our student work experience program.

The Trade College Early childhood work experience / vocational placement program will exceed the minimum number of required placement hours for this course. This placement component ensures students put their learning into practice. Students will be required to work across all age groups (including at least 40 hours of work placement with children under 2 years of age).

Employment Opportunities:

The Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care provides the following employment opportunities:

  • Assistant Educator – long daycare, childcare centres, occasional care
  • Assistant Educator – Kindergarten or preschool program
  • Family Day Care Educator
  • In-Home Care Provider
  • Nanny

Future Study & Career Pathways

Completion of this qualification meets prerequisite entry requirements for CHC50121 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.

The Cert III in Early Childhood Education and Care course gives you a huge range of options. The Trade College Industry Liaison Officers will help guide you. Our ILOs hold a minimum qualification of a Certificate IV in Career Development, allowing them to provide professional career counselling.

Essential Information

Formal Entry Requirements

You will need to apply for a Blue Card (working with children check) or exemption card to undertake Work or Vocational Placement within the childcare and early childhood education sector. The Trade College Industry Liaison Officers will assist with this process.

You will also need to provide evidence of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

 

Course Fees

The course fee is $1500 plus First Aid, in addition to the standard College Fees.

Exclusions

Students will need to undertake the following First Aid course (HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting). The cost of this course will be invoiced separately. The Trade College will schedule this program during school hours.
